Learning Through Play
The EYFS curriculum is based on a philosophy of learning through play; following the Early Years Foundation Stage framework. Teachers plan engaging, imaginative activities and experiences which are unique to each child’s development. These opportunities link to the 7 areas of learning:
Children’s personal, social and emotional development is nurtured through our unique Positive Education program. This enables us to build on character strengths and wellbeing alongside academic achievements through our creative teaching approaches.
We develop children’s communication and language skills through providing an environment where children are encouraged to speak, listen and express themselves in a range of situations.
Children’s literacy skills are developed through a range of opportunities to discover phonemic awareness; learning to hear and identify sounds to eventually be able to read and write words. Children have limitless access to mark making resources and are individually supported to develop their writing skills.
In our ongoing efforts to teach children about maintaining a healthy lifestyle, we teach physical development skills by providing a range of active opportunities in the indoor and outdoor environments. Children learn about healthy eating and self care through their daily routines and trips to the school canteen.
We develop children’s Mathematic skills through a range of number and problem solving opportunities, alongside shape and measurement activities.
Understanding the World supports children to make sense of the world around them. We provide a range of opportunities for children to investigate, experiment and explore in their indoor and outdoor environments.
Children have a range of opportunities to engage in Expressive Arts & Design activities. Exploring with paint and drawing allows children to express themselves and learn new techniques. Children discover and explore a variety of musical instruments during their music specialist music sessions each week.
Regent is an outstanding school
and provides an outstanding quality of education for pupils from three to 11 years
Very strong Curriculum with rich learning opportunities
that has an impact on the child's progress.
We learn to sing and to use our voices, to create and compose music.
We even have the opportunity to learn how to play different musical instruments. Our music teachers are very talented. They even taught some of us how to floss.
With an amazing senior leadership team and experienced educators,
a Regent education is interactive and collaborative – they truly make primary school a memorable experience.
My school feels like home.
I love coming to school every day.
Possibilities seem infinite at Regent.
There are no limits in my child’s imagination about what he can do. Children are encouraged to take chances, try anything and not be afraid.
The strong sense of community makes Regent more than just a great place for study,
it’s a great place to socialise and make new friends.
Regent has given my daughter a new start.
This school has encouraged her to gain confidence and to express herself despite mistakes. The teachers are always available to help and laugh with her.
